You know that favourite pose that we all look forward to in all our yoga classes, the lying down pose (Savasana), well now imagine a full class of this! Yoga postures on the floor where you stay in them with the help of props such as bolsters, blankets and blocks for up to 10 minutes! This is called Restorative Yoga and along with 3 other teachers from our studio, we completed a teacher training in this style of yoga. Since then, I realized just how much I need and crave stillness. Crazy to think that I, a yoga instructor would need to work on relaxing. The relaxing I can do easily but the not feeling guilty part is a challenge. I have had to reprogram my thoughts and perceptions on the art of doing doing nothing. Give yourself the permission to reconnect with yourself through this amazing practice!

Ma posture favorite du yoga? La dernière posture de toutes les classes, celle qui me demande de rester coucher sur son dos (savasana). Donc ma grande découverte de 2017? Le yoga restoratif! Mon mode “d’hyper-productivité” m’a fait oublié un ingrédient fondamental de mon épanouissement, la relaxation. Au travers de divers postures de yoga réalisées avec l’aide de couvertures, blocs et autres accessoires, le support du corps au complet, permet de lâcher prise totalement. Les bienfaits sont incroyables et se ressentent immédiatement. Mon grand moment “ha ha” fut de voir comment je devais changer ma perception de relaxer sans culpabilité! Relaxer ne signifie pas la paresse, mais plutôt un besoin fondamental nécessaire pour nous tous!

I've been practicing yoga on and off for the past 15 years with an amazing instructor who closed shop in December. In January, I was given a one-month membership at PuraVida, and a true gift it has been. I had no expectations at the outset but was very pleasantly surprised to encounter welcoming, warm and very competent and respectful trainers who are both professional and friendly. The essence of the spirit of yoga can be found at this studio. The instructors I have met are encouraging and present challenges while still reminding students to move at one's pace, listening to one's body.
